The second annual Abu Dhabi Yacht Show (ADYS) opened today February 25 at the stunning Yas Marina on Yas Island.
According to his Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nayhan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), the show is a “statement” of intent of the emirate’s commitment to becoming a serious international marine leisure destination.
Sheikh Sultan said the flagship Yas Marina is: “setting the standard for the numerous others now planned or under construction in the emirate. We know the demand exists and we intend to meet it with the most professional facilities and support services.”

After much debate and court dates, Valencia, Spain has been confirmed as the venue for the 33rd America’s Cup. The Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court announced last week that the 33rd America’s Cup yachting event will be held on Valencia.
A Best-of-Three Regatta will take place in Valencia, Spain in February 2010. The first race, 20 miles to windward and return, is scheduled on Monday February 8th.
The second race, an equilateral triangular race of 39 miles, the first side of which shall be a beat to windward, is scheduled for Wednesday February 10th.

Luxury Travel Expo, produced by Luxury Travel Advisor and Travel Agent magazine, and wholly owned by Questex Media, held their eleventh annual show from December 1-3, 2009 at MGM Grand Conference Center and the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Attendance included 2,522 travel agents who participated in three days of education, and visited over 600 exhibiting companies in a globally representative exhibit hall.

The eighth annual International Luxury Travel Market has announced the ultra.travel awards that were presented in the ILTM UltraTravel Forum. The Luxury Travel Forum offered two panel debates designed to tackle key issues that directly concern and impact the luxury travel professionals attending this year’s event.
The topics covered in the UltraTravel Forum were “Keeping Luxury Relevant in Today’s Market” and “The Future of Luxury Travel.” The “Keeping Luxury Relevant in Today’s Market” featured the Editor-in-Chief of Travel + Leisure, Nancy Novograd as the moderator. The second panel led by Graham Boynton, Group Travel Editor of Telegraph Media Group, covered the Future of Luxury Travel.
New this year was the ILTM ultra.travel Awards, which recognized the best luxury travel experiences from around the world. The winners were presented their award by Apollo 11 astronaut Dr. Buzz Aldrin.
