Capri Palace Hotel & Spa continues to provide luxury travel choices in CapriDriven by a continuous desire to pursue excellence and an intuitive awareness of their clientele’s needs, Capri Palace Hotel & Spa announces their recently awarded second Michelin star for the resort’s gourmet restaurant L’Olivo, the opening of a private beach club and the unveiling of a new art instillation by famed Italian sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro.

This past November, the luxury hotel’s gourmet restaurant L’Olivo was awarded a second Michelin star, and continues to be the only restaurant on the isle of Capri to boast any Michelin star.  Executive Chef Oliver Glowig, who joined Capri Palace Hotel & Spa in 2002, is best known for his reinterpretation of traditional Neapolitan dishes while incorporating organic ingredients from local suppliers. In 2007, L’Olivo was completely refurbished with customized fabrics by Loro Piana, creating a chic and elegant ambience.

In April 2009, Capri Palace Hotel & Spa will reopen for the summer season with the addition of a private beach club.  Formerly Add’o Riccio, a popular hangout for celebrities such as Jackie Onassis in the 1960’s, the private beach club is located on the cliffs above the famous Blue Grotto and a short shuttle ride from the resort.  The aesthetic of the beach club will be simple, rustic and chic – from the blue and white décor incorporating images from the sea to the traditional, local Neopolitan cuisine.  The beach club will feature sea access, private cabanas for hotel guests, a restaurant serving lunch and dinner and sunset cocktails.Capri Palace Hotel & Spa continues to provide luxury travel choices in Capri

The luxury resort will also unveil a new addition to its extensive modern art collection in April, a sculpture commissioned specifically for the property by famed Italian sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro. Best known for his “Sphere Within Sphere” (Sfera con Sfera) series, which can be seen in the Vatican Museums and the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Pomodoro’s piece for Capri Palace will be a stunning reflection of the magical qualities of the surrounding sea.  The sculpture will welcome guests and invite them to explore their own creative inspiration and artistic sensitivity during their stay.

Set high above the rocky coastline of the island of Capri in the picturesque Mediterranean town of Anacapri, Capri Palace is an elegant luxury hotel with magnificent views of the Gulf of Naples and Ischia Island.  The luxury hotel features an exclusive collection of contemporary art on permanent exhibit and the Capri Beauty Farm has become a renowned destination of those seeking world class spa services.
