Zermatt – you have to see it to believe it.
Welcome to the world’s most iconic ski resort.
Altitude, electric cars, wooden houses… Luxury brands, celebrities, exquisite chalets. Zermatt is a destination where charming, cozy atmosphere coexists perfectly with the latest technological improvements, resulting in a seamless mountain fairy tale. If you haven’t been there yet, it’s about time you planned your trip!
If you decide to go by train from Geneva, the journey is an experience in itself. The first train takes you to Visp along the ever-present Geneva Lake, with fantastic views over its misty waters, and passing by some spectacular properties right on the water’s edge. The second train climbs the winding cliff-side railway, passing through picturesque villages named after the different saints.
As Zermatt is a pollution-free resort, if you arrive by car you will have to leave it at a giant 5 story car park at the town entrance and then catch a taxi – unless you are staying at our chalets Lodge or Zeus, in which case a lift will take you directly to your doorstep.
Your first electric taxi experience might be somewhat breathtaking as the drivers speed and swirl between the pedestrians, however have no fear – they know what they’re doing. It takes about 15 minutes to cross the whole town by taxi.
Renowned worldwide for its glacier snow quality, Zermatt slopes stand up to the expectations. A more advanced skier will spend many happy hours pushing their limits on the great variety of slopes, and the children will thrive on the kids’ Gornergrat/Riffelalp area by the ski lift tunnel.
Food & drink
A day of skiing in Zermatt would not be complete without dining in style on the slopes. Restaurant Chez Vrony is beyond iconic with its ultimate rustic décor, stunning Matterhorn views and organic, entirely local food.
For a delicious meal in a familiar atmosphere, the Sonnmatten restaurant can be thoroughly recommended. It is located in the quiet area of Winkelmatten and has a lovely large terrace with – of course – panoramic Matterhorn views.
If you’re up for a bit of après-ski, live music and oversized beers be sure to check out the bar scene in Zermatt. There is a great variety of venues and styles, with such performing artist as the vocal sensation Sinead Savage appearing on regular basis.
Zermatt is a true celebrity hot spot: Robbie Williams likes to party in one of our chalets, Frieda from Abba lives here permanently and you might just run into a prince or a princess on the slopes.
The ultimate luxury and finest cuisine can be found on the exclusive hills of Petit Village. Chalet Les Anges will impress you with its exquisite taste, masculine elegance and refined attention to detail, while Chalet Grace, with its opulent luxury, robust bedrooms and oversized mirrors is a celebration of good life and comfort. The staff could not be praised enough – good old fashioned school of mayordomo who magically appears when a wish begins to form in your subconscious only to hand you that dry towel, amuse-bouche or warm blanket.
The cuisine at the chalets is truly outstanding. The menus lovingly prepared by the chefs are symphonies of flavours and textures, only to be outdone by the exquisite wines accompanying the meals to perfection.
Zermatt’s most exclusive chalets are still available for peak weeks bookings this season, some of them also in New Year’s period, with some stunning options like Aria Penthouse or the amazing High 7 Penthouse.
