A luxury Sanctuary Lodge away from it all

Discerning travelers interested in unforgettable experiences deep in the heart of Africa need look no further. Sanctuary Lodges & Camps provide a collection of sustainable properties that are conscious of their incredible natural surroundings. We have collected two of their top luxury camps in Botswana and Zambia.

Sanctuary Lodges and Camps features four camps in Botswana, including Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero bordering Chobe National Park. Chilwero, or “place of high view” in the local Setswana language, is a luxury lodge sitting high above the Chobe River with unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and flood plains as far as Namibia.

Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero has fifteen lavish bungalows with modern bathrooms and private balconies. Guests can swing on hammocks in private gardens, or shower “in the wild” in private outdoor showers. The new Spa at Chobe Chilwero provides the ultimate indulgent treatments, using Thalgo and Africology spa and hydrotherapy ranges. During the day, guests can explore Chobe National Park with highly qualified and knowledgeable professional guides. Activities include game drives in customized open 4×4 vehicles, motorized boat safaris, sunset cruises on the Chobe River, fishing excursions. Day trips to Victoria Falls also include a multitude of opportunities: bungee jumping, river rafting, shopping, village tours, elephant riding, tether ballooning and scenic flights over four countries.

In Zambia, the Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma leads the pack as an intimate and secluded lodge on the Zambezi River. This luxury safari camp named after the loyal friends of European explorer, David Livingstone, is located in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. Nestled into the wild alongside elephants, white rhinos, buffalo and giraffes, the camp includes private tree houses and two exclusive houses. Sussi’s twelve tree houses and Chuma’s two houses are built into the lush Zambezi riverbank. Chuma is a quiet retreat, complete with a private chef to create delectable meals for every culinary need. Guests are invited to enjoy sunrise and sunset river cruises, fishing excursions, professionally guided game drives in the National Park and a special Livingstone tour, exploring all the exciting adventures made famous by the first European to see (and name) Victoria Falls.
