Andorra Opens Winter Ski Season
This weekend, Andorra opens its top resorts for the ski season. Vallnord and Grandvalira will open today with fresh powder runs for skiers and boarders of all levels.
Initial snow fall over the weekend of 28th and 29th November has provided a good layer of snow with up to 40cm of snow on the high slopes and 20cm on the lower slopes. With a further 10 – 15cm expected to fall in the next few days, clear blue skies and a low wind chill factor, forecast conditions are predicted to be perfect.
Andorra’s two ski regions are Vallnord and Grandvalira. Grandvalira incorporates the resorts of Soldeu, El Tarter, Pas de la Casa/Grau Roig, Encamp, and Canillo. Vallnord takes in the popular areas of Arinsal, Pal and Arcalis. Andorra is known for its recent infrastructure developments which have improved lift service connecting most of the individual resorts, quality of accommodation and ski school standards.
Andora is considered ideal for families and friends to enjoy the variety of ski runs. A top Andorra Hotel to stay is the Sport Hotels Resort & Spa in Soldeu at the foot of Grandvalira.
