Purple Ski becomes Méribel’s premier luxury chalet operator
Purple Ski, the Méribel luxury-chalet specialist and Paradizo new partner, has added two of the resorts finest, luxury chalets to its portfolio – following the unfortunate collapse of Descent International and Scott Dunn’s withdrawal from the resort – and has subsequently become Méribel’s premier luxury chalet operator.
Nestled in the quaint Méribel Village and full of rustic beauty, Foinsbois (sleeps 12) oozes Alpine charm. Formerly with Descent International, the spacious interior features warm colours, a homely kitchen and dining area, and boasts all the expected modern luxuries, even the outdoor hot tub is made of local stone. Just a two minute walk from the chair lift, which provides quick access up to the Altiport and the main slopes of Méribel, the price of a week’s stay starts from only £941 pp.
La Petite Pia (sleeps eight to 12) is a free standing chalet situated in the heart of Méribel. Stone clad and spread over three floors, the chalet (formerly a Scott Dunn property) has wonderful views from the wide sunny balconies over Méribel valley. The interior is a mix of beautiful polished and tiled floors and wooden panelled walls. All four bedrooms have private bathrooms, but the enormous master bedroom has its own luxury en-suite bathroom, walk-in closet and private balcony overlooking the valley. Prices start from just £805 pp.
Comments Michael Broom Smith, Purple Ski founder: “It has long been a fact that Méribel has more top-of-the-range chalet accommodation available to skiers than any other resort in the world. But unfortunately, this year it looks as though only our chalets, and a handful of others, will be on offer for luxury ski holidays here.
In the last few seasons we have seen great companies and Meribel stalwarts like The Ski Company and now Descent International fold. And Scott Dunn no longer operates chalets in Meribel, so we’ve become the resort’s leading luxury chalet operator by default.
Other companies are also undergoing hard times – in the last few months we have seen a number of other Meribel-based chalet operators cease trading and the big companies like Neilson, Crystal and Thomson have substantially reduced their programme in Méribel, to the point of virtually pulling out of the resort.”
Méribel is the most popular choice of ski resort with British visitors and Purple Ski has been offering guests the chance to enjoy some of the most lavish accommodation available in the resort, exceptional cuisine, fine wines and highly qualified staff (including award winning chefs) since 1991.
The company provides clients with chefs from Michelin star and three AA Rosette rated restaurants (plus a number of five-star hotels), an outstanding collection of chateau and domaine-bottled wines (selected for Purple Ski by a Master of Wine) and an unmatched level of personal service.
Prices are based on two adults sharing and include seven nights’ catered chalet accommodation (daily breakfast and afternoon tea plus a four-course evening meal six days a week with unlimited champagne, beer, wine, soft drinks and mixers). Flights and transfers extra.
