Last updated on

Spain points with beautiful beaches and stunning landscapes, which is a reason why tourist crowds come to visit it every year in summer. Paradizo thought to introduce you some places that are not so known so you can escape the tourist crowds in summer and enjoy your holiday in a more authentically setting. Here are our top 5 secret places to visit in summer.

1. Cadaqués, Catalonia

In the north of the Costa Brava, close to the boarder to France, lies the picturesque town of Cadaqués. This small mountain town inspired once Dalí and Picasso who had summer houses there. A truly inspiring place in Spain, which thanks to its secluded location through a winding mountain road which gives the only access to it, has retained its authentic charm until today. Its white houses and lightening tower at the top of the mountain invite you for an unforgettable holiday and little boasts take you out snorkeling.

2. Tarifa, Andalucía

Tarifa is located in the South of Spain in between Cadiz and Marbella, not far from Gibraltar and just right in front of Tangier in Morocco. This small coastal town invites surfers from all over the world, especially kite and wind surfing is famous here since there is a lot of wind all year around. It has a bit of a hippy surfer atmosphere and is a real jewel under Spain’s secret places to be. However, it can get quite busy in summer so the best time to visit is May or September when the weather is still nice and the water warm to swim. A real highlight is the beach Bolonia which is located a bit north of it.

3. Menorca, Balearic island

The small island is a real secret spot for people who love the nature and want to escape the crowds of its neighboring island Mallorca. It is the perfect place to rent a car or bike and just drive around the stunning coast line. Empty beaches, amazing food, crystal-clear water and archaeological sites invite you for an unforgettable holiday on the island. Also, the capital of Menorca, Ciutadella, is worth a visit with its beautiful harbor and small craft shops.

4. Peñíscola, Valencia

Located at the orange blossom coast, the coastal town Peñíscola is picturesquely situated on a rock in the sea. On top of the hill rises its fortress, it has a beautiful oldtown and beautiful beaches. Spring is the ideal time in Peñíscola, when the enchanting coastal town between Barcelona and Valencia awakes from its winter sleep. The national park Sierra de Irta is located nearby and invites for amazing hikes.

5. Delta de l’Ebre, Reus, Katalonien

The beach at the river delta of Ebre is located in the south of Reus. Quite untouched and barely known, the golden sandy beach is ideal for surfing, but the picturesque surroundings are also ideal for exploring. The beach Trabucador is partially surrounded by water from both sides, as it connects a piece of land mass with the mainland like a bridge. Ideal for all who want to escape the mass tourism and enjoy the nature.
