Bali insider tips
Bali is truly unique. The multi – faceted culture is evident in all areas of everyday life. Starting from the exquisite petals to the gods everywhere, to colorfully dressed locals who walk in a procession to one of the numerous temple festivals, to traditional music and dance performances all over the Island. Paradizo has been providing luxury villas on Bali for many years and is giving you some insider tips and unspoiled travel advice to make your stay a truly unforgettable experience.
The best unspoiled beaches
No question, there are plenty beautiful beaches on Bali, as well as excellent surfing and diving possibilities. Just a few years ago the Dreamland beach was a real “dream beach”. Meanwhile, unfortunately, a bit crowded, but the water really has a very special color and there are many rocks and several small coves in which one can hide from the hustle and bustle. For surfing and sunset, the Dreamland Beach is fantastic. Another beautiful beach is the Bingin Beach. Some wardens have settled over the past few years in the cliffs and on the beach of Bingin. The perfect place to watch the surfers in the morning. Swim at high tide along the coast and finish the day with a Barbecue at the beach for sunset. One of the most famous beaches on Bali is the Padang Padang Beach. Here you can find amazing clear water and beautiful rocks. It is particularly suitable for surf newbies and for SUP-boarding. However, the beach is very small and there is hardly any opportunities to escape the crowd. The Padang Beach became famous by the movie “Eat Pray Love”. Once a week there is also a brilliant beach party (only in the dry season). Other recommended beaches are the Pandawa Beach, Melasti beach and the Balangan Beach.
Lombok & the Gilis islands
The largely undiscovered island of Lombok is almost as big as Bali and is just next door. Lombok has a volcanic center and has nudist and idyllic beaches, such as beach Mawun. Visitors who want to explore this island will get their money’s worth. Many are attracted by the mighty Gunung Rinjani, the second-largest volcano in Indonesia. Rivers and waterfalls shoot down the jagged slopes. On the summit, there are hot springs and a fantastic crater lake – a real reward for tired hikers. Worth a visit are also the legendary Gili Islands – three beautiful small islands with white sand beaches and coconut palms, surrounded by a coral reef that is teemed with marine life. Gili Trawangan, on the other hand, is famous for its vibrant nightlife.
Don’t waste too much time in the very touristic and overcrowded Kuta if you want to get to know the real Bali. Only a few minutes further you are already in the less crowded and more beautiful Ubud, Canggu or on the Bukit Peninsula. Kuta is mainly recommended for people who want to learn surfing because of its good waves and nice restaurants.
Bali has an amazing culture which is definitely worth to discover and which you won’t find in the touristic areas. We recommend you to rent a scooter, car or bike to discover the everyday life of the Balinese, the rice fields , the smells of carnations and incense sticks, the many small sacrifices, the ceremonies and gamelan sounds.
Another real insider tipp is that the Jatiluwih rice fields are one of the largest rice breeds in Bali and are much more unknown and less touristic than the extremely well-known Tegalalang rice fields, but that doesn’t mean that they are less beautiful. You can find absolutely stunning rice plants as far as the eye can see. A real unspoiled travel advice, the view of that amazing landscape is just breathtaking.
