Luxury travel trends for 2010 revealed

Last updated on

Discerning travelers and luxury travel professionals have recently revealed their predictions for luxury travel trends for 2010 and the future. Naming everything from niche luxury cruises to personalized adventure travel in undiscovered regions, industry professionals have contributed their ideas about the future of luxury travel.

Reflecting the current economic setting, many luxury travel professionals comment on new bargains, noting that “it’s more about value for money at a given price bracket than about branding or concept right now.” Many luxury hotel and tour operators will thrive in the current environment if they are able to show why it’s worth paying a bit more to get something extraordinary. Indeed, this sense of looking for an unusual experience is a definite rising trend.

Debbie Stock of VacationTravelChannel claims that “more enriching experiences are preferred over a luxurious lifestyle” by the majority of discerning travelers. Many are looking for exotic regions and customized adventure travel. Ecoluxury accommodations allure travelers with an exciting adventure and conscientious travel experience in emerging hotspots like Panama, Ecuador and Peru.

Travelers are expected to plan luxury vacations that maximize unforgettable moments and detailed experiences while minimizing spending on extraneous amenities that they will not use. According to YPartnership research, two-thirds of high end travelers (individuals earning $150,000+ annually) are not flaunting their wealth when it comes to vacations. The trend points to more conservative spending for enriched and unique vacations. Professionals are positioned to meet specific demands and create exciting luxury vacations in the future.

Where are the travelers headed? In addition to the aforementioned eco-friendly spots like Panama and Ecuador‘s Galapagos Islands, luxury travel professionals predict that Europe will enjoy a renewed interest, especially along the Mediterranean. Other top spots include Dubai, China and South Africa.
