Mallorca luxury Vacation Guide

Majorca, or Mallorca as it is spelled locally, is a beautiful white island just off the Spanish coast in the Mediterranean and has long been considered a top luxury vacation destination for elite European travelers seeking fun in the sun. Though small, the island packs in tons of activities, top restaurants and simply breathtaking beaches. The endless opportunities for a fun and relaxing getaway have made Mallorca the unofficial holiday spot for the Spanish royal family and other international celebrities. It may be daunting to plan out the perfect way to visit Mallorca, which is why Paradizo’s insider travel team has compiled the experiences and places that are a must for any luxury holiday in Mallorca.

Getting There – The island is easily connected to most major airports in Europe through the bustling international capital Palma. However, there are various private airports catering to private jet traffic around the island. The most popular private jet route is from London to Mallorca; however you can customize your route based on your itinerary and travel locations.

Places to Stay – Without a doubt, the best way to experience a true luxury holiday in Mallorca is by renting a private villa, preferably a villa with a pool. The northern coast is home to palatial estates that feel more like a beach country club than a private holiday home. The amenities are astounding; you can make your own itinerary, and often times you can hire a personal villa staff to take care of details like cleaning, cooking with a private chef, or arranging your activities. What better way to take time off and BE on vacation?

The villas in Pollenca and neighboring coastal town Alcudia are among the most sought-after choices due to their quiet locations, grand accommodations and fantastic in-villa services. However the countryside villages in the north are by far not the only choices for renting a villa in Mallorca.

The western coast hosts lovely holiday homes in and around the family-friendly towns of Deia and Soller. If you want something truly away from everything, head to the Southern tip of Mallorca to find out-of-the-way luxury villas that open out onto the cliffside overlooking the sea.

Things to do – As it is an island in the Mediterranean, Mallorca is a fantastic location for a luxury beach vacation. The beaches here are varied and can suit just about any traveler’s speed: easy-going family fun, thrills for the adrenaline junkies, or sun worshippers looking for a quiet, lazy day. However the beach is not the only thing you can do in Mallorca – there is also prime shopping in Palma, great golf courses scattered along the coasts, and watersport activities like sailing and snorkeling.

Beaches

Sa Rapita – It’s a welcomed, quieter alternative to its neighbor, the ever-popular Es Trenc beach on the southern coast that sports a wide, alabaster sand beach. It’s great for families as well as for surfers. It also has some great restaurants and bars for a refreshing cocktail after spending the day bronzing on the beach.

Platja de Muro – Located on the Bay of Alcudia in the north, Platja de Muro is a remote beach that has become popular over the years for travelers daytripping from Alcudia looking for some peace and quiet. There is almost 8km of powdery sand that slip into shallow, warm water perfect for families with small children.

Cala d’Or –Literally the “golden cove,” this picturesque stretch of coast in southeastern Mallorca outside Santanyi is home to small inlets and coves with intimate beaches off the beaten path. They are great for families to explore and for those who are looking for a quiet day at the beach away from it all.

Cala Mondrago – As a neighbor to Cala d’Or, Cala Mondrago is another beautiful beach resort in the south. Not only can families enjoy a magnificent and pristine beach, they can also explore the quiet village life in the surrounding towns. This beach is part of a national park and is a well-protected gem on the Mallorcan coast.

RestaurantsMallorca has a fantastic array of restaurants from fine dining to authentic beach bars (or chiringuitos) serving up fresh seafood. You don’t have to be in Palma to have international cuisine, and you don’t have to find a hole-in-the-wall in a village to find authentic Mallorquin menus. There’s a little bit of everything for everyone scattered about the island but these restaurants are the ones that you simply cannot pass up.

Restaurant Tristan – This is the iconic restaurant on the island for gourmets. Located in the upscale Portals Nous, Tristan offers sheer elegance with savory dishes made in the Mallorquin tradition. Sa Romana – Sa Romana rises out of lush countryside in the luxury resort Alcudia. It is surrounded by well kept gardens that create a fanciful atmosphere before you even enter the dining room. The restaurant is decorated like a sumptuous Roman villa and the food is nothing short of spectacular. It is a must-do spot for anyone staying in the area. Alcudia. Tel: 971549428
