Queenstown’s wild environment is irresistible to adventure lovers. It attracts many young visitors for its excellent party reputation, throngs of cool bars and excellent restaurants. The center of Queenstown exudes a youthful, dynamic atmosphere and is home to many bars, restaurants and hotels. Places to visit near Queenstown

But as busy as Queenstown is, it is also in a beautiful setting, with gorgeous lake and mountain views wherever you are. Do not miss the waterfront and the sight of the historic steamship TSS Earnslaw, after 100 years it still cruises on Lake Wakatipu. Board the TSS Earnslaw ship for Walter Peak High Country Farm, where you can experience a traditional farm. The Gondola skyline will take you to the top of Bob’s Peak, with sweeping views of the city and some of the best hiking trails in Lake Wakatipu area. Just a short walk along the beach are the Queenstown Gardens, planted on a small peninsula that forms the small harbor of the city, the view from the lakeshore is very beautiful.  We also recommend renting a kayak at Lake Hayes, one of the most beautiful lakes on this planet you will not forget the trip there. You should visit Arrowtown, one of the best preserved ancient cities in New Zealand, whose main street is still virtually intact, complete with a historical tour and a partially reconstructed Chinese gold mining village. Besides, the Kinloch Glenorchy is a lovely drive to the western end of Lake Wakatipu. Behind Glenorchy, two rivers of two valleys converge in a huge delta, and suddenly you can see mountains with glaciers.

Queenstown gastronomy

Queenstown is home to many excellent restaurants that range from affordable to fine dining, from local to international cuisine. One recommendation is the new “Sherwood” with its cozy rustic atmosphere. Three kilometers from Queenstown, directly on Lake Wakatipu, it unites hotel, restaurant, bar and is also a place of relaxation with its range of yoga and Pilates. All ingredients used in the restaurant come from their own organic garden and surrounding farms and the bar serves wines from New Zealand’s best independent wine producers. Also, no visitor should leave the city without tasting “Ferg’s Gourmet burger” at least once. Because, since the opening in 2001 they are considered the best burgers in New Zealand. You can choose from New Zealand beef, lamb and chicken, tofu or falafel. The special are the surprising notes, which one additionally tastes depending on the burger: pineapple, apricot, mint, ginger and coconut, just to name a few variants. If you like Asian food you should visit “Asian street food style fusion” with its moderate prices in the bustling Madam Woo right in Queenstown. The menu features authentic Malaysian and Chinese dishes. The charming “Rata” belongs to the internationally renowned New Zealand star chef Josh Emett and has been inspired by the south of New Zealand. They offer local food in an authentic atmosphere.
