The 5 Best Places in the Amalfi Coast, Italy
The Amalfi Coast, the beautiful southern coast of the Sorrento peninsula is named after one of its towns Amalfi. With right it is one of Italy’s most popular holiday destinations. The beauty of this steeply sloping rocky coastline, in whose ravines and inlets small enchanting towns lie, is unique. Each of these towns has its own character and traditions. The narrow road that winds along this “Costa Divina” (divine coast) is perhaps the most beautiful scenic road in the world. Paradizo will present you its most beautiful places so you know where to go when you travel to the stunning Amalfi Coast.
The picturesque town Sorrento is located on the Gulf of Sorrento with a magnificent view over the sea and amazing views over the Gulf of Naples to Mount Vesuvius on one side and the island of Capri on the other side. Very romantic are the narrow streets with their colorful shops that are selling genuine local specialties, artisan products and of course large lemons that are typical of this area. The central located Piazza Tasso with its monument that is placed in the middle of the piazza is where the evening life of Sorrento takes place. From Piazza Tasso, a winding road leads down to Marina Piccola, from where boats leave for the islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida. The fishing port of Marina Grande is accessible via Marina Grande and is a must for gourmets. In the small trattoria you can eat very tasty. Other places to see are the oldtown, the Cathedral of Sorrento, the Archbishop’s Palace and the Cathedral of St. Philip and James.
Ravello is a magical place on the Amalfi Coast and a source of inspiration for artists. In marvelous parks of aristocratic villas the view sweeps over the azure blue sea and lovely vineyards up to the Cilento. The gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone are definitely worth a visit. Ravello is known internationally through the annual Wagner Music Festival.
Amalfi is the most popular destination of the stunning Amalfi Coast. In the characteristic old town with its beautiful cathedral Sant’Andrea there are many colorful shops and delicious restaurants. Especially beautiful are the archways under houses, under which it is pleasantly cool even in summer. The piazza below the cathedral is the heart of the old town with its cafes and bars. Worth seeing is the paper museum in an old paper mill.
Positano is the pearl of the Amalfi Coast, its pastel-colored little houses nestling almost unreal on a steep slope.
Through the old town are many staircases with boutiques down to the beach Marina Grande. The Positano fashion is internationally known. Dome-shaped roofs give the village a fairytale charm.
The island of Capri has in every season a special magic. It is particularly romantic in the evening, after the day visitors have left the island and tranquility turns back in the streets of the capital of Capri, which is so turbulent during the day. Capri is a thriving island, with the deep blue of the sea, the white buildings in a friendly contrast. The average temperatures are in spring and autumn at about 14 ° -16 ° C, the best months of travel are April-June and September-October. Even in the winter months, the mild climate ensures well-being and lush vegetation.
