Costa Rica is an exotic Paradise in Central America, famous for its ecotourism, animal richness, dreamy beaches that invite to surf, beautiful national parks and huge varieties of landscapes and activities. Other than many countries in the area, Costa Rica is touristicly well developed and considered quite safe, thanks to its economic and politic stability. The local people are also known as “Ticos” and are generally very friendly and welcoming people who live happily after the motto “pura vida” (“the pure life”), which is an invitation to enjoy life stress-free. Paradizo has been offering luxury villas in Costa Rica for many years and we want to share some advice and experience with you so you can enjoy your next holiday there even more.
Costa Rica has incredible beaches along its two coasts at the Caribbean and the Pacific side. That makes it an ideal holiday destination for swimming, relaxing and especially water sports, you can find on the coasts of Costa Rica fantastic and partly very remote and original sandy beaches. The water temperatures of the two oceans are always pleasantly warm. A lot of paradisiac beaches can be found on the 1,000 km long Pacific coast of Costa Rica. While in the north, beaches such as Playa del Coco or Playa Flamingo tended to become tourist centers, you will find a lot of secluded and beautiful places in the south. Beside rocky there are countless white, golden yellow and gray (Volcano) beaches. You can surf almost everywhere in Costa Rica, a variety of different surfing offers perfect conditions for beginners as well as for professionals. Due to the seclusion and partial unattainability, some places such as Santa Teresa / Malpaís and Tamarindo on the Pacific or Puerto Viejo on the Atlantic are real insider tips.
Sport is an important aspect in Costa Rica and the country offers a wide range of activities like no other. It is considered one of the main active holiday destinations. The possibilities range from classic sports to pure adventure. Facing the breathtaking nature of the country, hiking is of course a special experience for visitors. In the heart of the many natural parks you can experience the exotic flora and fauna of the country. Horse riding is another activity that is not to be missed. It has a long tradition in Costa Rica, it is therefore not surprising that you can find organized horse excursions in every corner. As an interesting alternative you can also go on a cycling tours. The mountains and rivers of Costa Rica are becoming a challenge for water rafting fans in the rainy season. Rapids and the wonderful natural landscapes round off the highlight of every active holiday. Surfers can explore the Pacific as well as the Caribbean Sea and use the year-round, meter-high waves. Sports enthusiasts will find a wide range of activities from coastal to deep sea fishing, as well as canopying, skydiving, bungy jumping and much more. The Caribbean Sea is a diving destination par excellence. But even if you just want to snorkel or swim, you are in good hands.
Places to visit
Costa Rica is a country full of beautiful places. North of San Jose you can find the beautiful cloud forest “Monteverde” where activities such as canopy and walking over hanging bridges are a must do. Visit the small town of “la Fortuna” and enjoy a warm bath in one of the many hot springs after a log hike to the volcano Arenal. Then head over to the Caribbean coast and take a boat to “Tortugero” where from June to September you can watch turtles hatch their eggs. After, take a water taxi to the town “Puerto Viejo” where you can experience the real Caribbean vibe while taking Salsa classes. Enjoy the amazing national park “Cahuita” with its abundance of animals and fauna. Then head to the beautiful secluded beaches Manzanillo and Punta Uva where you can snorkel or just enjoy a swim. It is also worth to visit the Pacific coast. Make a stop in the national park “Manuel Antonio” to enjoy its incredible beaches and animals. After, take a trip to Punta Uva where the boats head out from July to September for whale watching. Then you should visit the surfer town “Santa Teresa” where you can enjoy a party atmosphere and surfing. Nearby you can find a real insider tip, the small hippy town of ” Montezuma” and “Mal País” with its secluded beaches and amazing waterfall. If you still have some time left head North to see some of the beautiful beaches which have a good touristic infrastructure and party vibes. Advisable are “Dominical”, “Tamarindo” and “Sámara”. For the more adventurers and nature lover head South on the pacific coast and go camping in one of the most famous national parks in the world, the “Corcovado national park”.
