Travel + Leisure’s “World’s Best Awards 2009″ revealed

Travel + Leisure magazine recently revealed the winners of the annual World’s Best Awards. Surveying discerning travelers worldwide, Travel+Leisure’s top winners reveal the favorite luxury vacation spots for 2009, from exciting cities to relaxing beaches, intimate boutique hotels to extravagant luxury resorts, the World’s Best Awards covers every angle.
Bushmans Kloof claims the top spot for Best Hotels of 2009. The luxury lodge in Cape Town offers an all-inclusive stay for the ultimate wilderness and wellness experience. Nestled into the Cedarberg Mountains of South Africa’s Western Cape, Bushmans Kloof has also been recognized as a top ecoluxury hotel in the past.
Travel+Leisure readers placed Bali at the top of the list for island vacations this year. Ecuador’s startling Galápagos Islands came in close second, with Nova Scotia’s Cape Breton Island just behind. Other top islands include Kauai, Maui, Maldives, Aeolian Islands, Maine’s Mount Desert Island and Vancouver Island.
The Top Overall Cities include Udaipur, Cape Town and Bangkok at the top three spots. Buenos Aires, Chiang Mai, Florence, Luang Prabang, New York, Rome and San Francisco rounded out the top ten for Travel+Leisure readers.
Top Lodges and Resorts in Africa include Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve in South Africa, Kenya’s Governor Camp and Eagle Island Camp in Botswana. Kenya’s Masai Mara and Londolozi Private Game Reserve are also in the top twenty for luxury safari lodges.
